Craving a style refresh? Right this way…

Wertheim Village

Ladies and gents, it’s time to rework your end-of-summer style with a little help from the sartorial stars of the year. Five styles you shouldn’t be without, right this way…

1.

THE SLIP DRESS

Revived ‘90s staple and every model’s day-to-dark ensemble, the slip dress hasn’t put a foot wrong this season, so if you still haven’t stocked up on the hero buy, it’s not too late. Whether it’s a slinky silk and lace piece, a pretty polka-dot style, or a velvet option layered over a turtleneck for cooler nights, just know that your styling options are infinite.

2.

RELAXED TAILORING

If you don’t own fluid-fit tailoring – think deconstructed suits and striped cuff trousers – get to shopping. This is all about mastering contemporary-casual, so less Don Draper, more Don Johnson in Miami Vice. But if you need to look sharp, go for lightweight breathable fabrics such as a silk-sateen blend or viscose with jacquard detailing. Finish the look with suede espadrilles or boat shoes.

3.

WHITE ANKLE BOOTS

White ankle boots have been making the rounds from influencer’s It-list to fashion buyers’ favourite, and we can see why. We’re talking about the style that’s polished with a pointed toe, a side zip (or elasticated side panels) and a kitten heel, and which will see you through to next spring.

Best of all, white boots are easily styled, meaning they can be the building block of any look if you just go with the flow, whether your look is all white or you pair the boots with Crayola-coloured trouser suits. Whatever you do, steer clear of potholes and puddles.

4.

BOX-FRESH TRAINERS

Straight-out-of-the-box trainers have been the footwear favourite all year, and the good news is they’re going nowhere. Wear them with cropped pleated trousers for work (don’t forget the loose-fit blazer, worn open) and a boxy graphic slogan T-shirt for street-style appeal at the weekend.

5.

THE SADDLE BAG

Box clutch or bucket bag. Woven-leather or basket tote. Statement bags have been sweeping the fashion scene for seasons, but the breakout star of the year is undoubtedly the saddle style. The quirky-cool design is still going strong in every shade, shape and size.

Carry a plain double-strap version to polish a date night look, or a micro two-tone style to break up your wedding guest look. And if you’re a vintage lover, be on the lookout for a saddle pouch in the style of Ganni’s latest cult hit, the Edison.
